Culture of England

British is full of culture and traditions which have been around for hundreds of years. British customs and traditions are famous all over the world. Since the early modern era, the food of England has historically been characterised by its simplicity of approach, honesty of flavour & a reliance on the high quality of natural produce. Traditional meals such as bread & cheese roasted & stewed meat, meat & game pies & fresh water & salt fish are always on the top interests of the British food lovers. Tea & beer are typical & rather iconic drinks in England, particularly the former. Roast beef is a food traditionally associated with the English.

Coming to the folk culture of England, bound with folklore, in all forms, from such obvious manifestations as semi-historical Robin Hood tales, to contemporary urban myths. Morris dance is the most active culture in England. Many festivals feature Morris Dancing & various festivities, lamenting in the crowning of a 'May Queen'.

In many, usually rural places people still gather for May Day festivals on the first may to celebrate the beginning of summer. Children on this day come together & perform various activities, carry coloured ribbon-resulting in a multi-coloured planted platform around a maypole.

England has long rich musical history too. Beatles are the most popular musicians of their time and in the composing due of John lennon & Paul Mc Cartrey, popularised the concept of suf. contained music act.

English literature has been made rich by famous works by the popular writer of the past like William Shakespeare, Charles Bickens, Thomas Hardy & many more.

Culture of England is lame if we do not include the heritage of the country as it is massively affected and influenced by it. In recent years, stone-hedge has become a focus for modern summer solstice celebrations, though the stone-hedge pre-dates the existence of England as a nation, it in believed by many English people to hold an Iconic place in the culture of England.
